FAQ's

Here we thought we'd include some FAQ's posed by students:

People always ask us different questions around the university application process, how to get into the Universities you want etc; so we thought we'd answer some of those questions ..

How do I decide which Universities are right for me?

It's simple, decide what you want to study. Once you've done this you can then narrow the choices, because if the uni doesn't offer what you want to study it's not really an option. The next thing you'll have to do is decide.

We've answered this question using the Complete University Guide.

How did you select which course you wanted to study at Uni?

Well as we said before, Faith-Brynel selected Law but God selected Politics. Just always choose something you're passionate about, and something you can see yourself loving for the next three or four years.

How do you gain connections on LinkedIn?

First, fix up your LinkedIn profile (we'll be covering how to do this on my Podcast), then type in key buzz words such as Law, Government etc and LinkedIn will find people who have put that in their bio or on their profile. Or if you want to connect with Law students for example, type in any Law firm (you can Google this), then it'll come uop with first, second and third connections. Your first connections are those you are connected with, the second connections are connections of your connections and third connections are those who aren't connected to you in any shape or form. See the LinkedIn article for more information !

How do I get ahead?

I'll give you some tips: read ahead, so when the lecturer or teacher sets the homework for next lesson read the required materials and then read extras also known as optional modules. We would also make detailed notes and probably pair that with something like revision cards or use Quizlet. Trust me guys Quizlet is such a useful tool. It's not just for languages, we've used it for Spanish, English, Law and Politics. Don't worry I've hyperlinked the link to the word Quizlet :)

I've only just realised there were webinars and summer schemes- what can I do now?

Don't worry just breathe, once you've done this... Okay now that's out the way, go onto Google and type in your course along with the specification. What should come up is different revision sources and extracts. As mentioned before,  you should also go onto Quizlet and type in the topic or subject area as other users will have uploaded their sets as they call it !! It's never too late, just start strong and finish it ...

How long does it take to become a barrister?

According to Prospects, becoming a barrister 'takes five years- including three years for your law degree, one year for a Bar course and a one-year pupillage in chambers. Again, add an extra year for the GDL if your degree wasn't in law. Meanwhile, CILEx qualifications are more flexible.'

What motivated you to want to become a barrister?

Faith-Brynel has always enjoyed helping people, so when she discovered the Legal sector, she quickly realised she would be a good fit. Also, the pay's not half bad ahaha :)

If you any other questions to be included in this manual/guide just message us on any social media platform or fill out the contact form on the contact me page .  Look out on Instagram as we will be doing some polls for your opinions, on socials just search for Faith Brynel Pomell :)
